Appeal after elderly pedestrian hit by car
Police are urging a driver to come forward after an elderly man was hit by a car following a football match in Plymouth last month.
The 86-year-old local man was stood on the pavement on Outland Road, opposite Home Park football ground, on Saturday 19 September at around 5pm, waiting for the park and ride service after the Plymouth Argyle versus Bristol Rovers game.
A medium-sized black or dark coloured car came out of one of the driveways, by the new traffic light system that had been put in place, and clipped the man with the back of the car.
The man fell to the floor and suffered a serious hip injury. He was taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The driver failed to stop and police are keen to trace them, as well as any witnesses to the incident.
PC Dan Hickey, based in Plymouth, said: “The vehicle clipped the man with the rear panel and the driver may not have even been aware that they had hit him.
"We are urging them to come forward to assist with our enquiries.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and remembers seeing the incident.”
