Be a spider hunter at insect event

Family-friendly natural history group Wild About Plymouth will be celebrating National Insect Week with a special event at Devonport Park on Saturday 21 June.

‘Eight Legged Creatures’ will be a chance for bug hunters to see how many different types of spider they can spot in one of the city’s biggest parks.

Wild About Plymouth: A Cold World

Brrrrrrrr! Come and discover some of the strange creatures that live in the coldest places on the planet. From giant sea spiders to woolly rhinoceros teeth fossils - there will be plenty to see! You can also enjoy a range of fun activities in the warmth of the Museum such as creating your own woolly mammoth and making a giant sea spider of your own! Admission is free and there is no need to book. Drop in for as little or as long as you like.

Wild about Plymouth to look at mini beasts and bugs

Families will have a chance to get up close to insects and mini-beasts on Saturday 7 December, with natural history partnership Wild About Plymouth.

What’s Your Bug? has been organised by staff from the City Museum and Art Gallery and Plymouth University and will take place in the university's Davy Building from 10am to noon.

Wild About Plymouth - Discover the Laboratory on the Hoe

Natural history group Wild About Plymouth will be busy exploring the Citadel Hill Laboratory from 10am to 12pm on Saturday 21 September.

The ‘Discover the Laboratory on the Hoe’ event is being held to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Citadel Hill lab as well as the work of the Marine Biological Association (MBA) and the Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science (SAHFOS) and the Ocean City Festival.
