Ladram Bay is celebrated as Devon's top holiday park at tourism award finals
Ladram Bay Holiday Park in Budleigh Salterton has been named as Devon's top holiday park by judges of this year's Devon Tourism Awards.
The family-run business beat scores of other eligible parks to take the overall gold honour in the Holiday Park of the Year category of the annual contest.
The announcement was made at the glittering awards ceremony held at Torquay’s Riviera International Centre on 16 November, attended by tourism chiefs from across the county.
The verdict of the award judges was based on a detailed study of Ladram Bay's long list of achievements in recent times, and the glowing feedback provided by customers.
Recent investments in the park have included the introduction of new guest facilities, and the development of additional top-end accommodation options
Also highlighted by judges was the work undertaken by the park to protect wildlife and the natural world, and Ladram Bay's close links with the local community.
"We're all absolutely thrilled to have received this prestigious honour,” said Ladram Bay director Zoe House whose family has owned the park since 1943.
"It’s especially poignant as we this year celebrated our 80th anniversary with a series of special events over the summer which were enjoyed by guests and holiday home owners.
"What makes us especially proud is that the Devon Tourism Award judges looked not just at the quality of our facilities, but also at the high level of hospitality Ladram Bay provides.
"We have always tried to create happy memories by offering a warm and friendly atmosphere, so our team also need to take a bow for their crucial role in providing this," added Zoe.
She said that bookings for 2024 are already rolling in, and that the majority of guests are either repeat visitors, or those coming as a result of a personal recommendation.
Interest in owning a holiday lodge, Zoe reports, is also strong as more families decide to make a long-term commitment to taking breaks in the UK.
Attractions at the park include an indoor climbing wall, indoor swimming pool and outdoor splash zone, watersports equipment hire, and adventure golf course.
Family entertainment including professional cabarets run throughout summer, and there are also bar, restaurant and take-away facilities providing freshly prepared food.
Ladram Bay offers holiday caravans and lodges to hire and to own, glamping accommodation, and pitches for touring guests – and everyone has use of the park’s stunning private beach.
