Members of the Oddfellows who have served as Presidents of the Society’s Southern Group, those branches in the south of the country including South Wales, travelled from across the region to meet at the Barnstaple Hotel in North Devon to renew friendships over a weekend and to enjoy lunch together.

Accompanied by consorts and guests, the gathering has been an annual event down the years and on this occasion, Barnstaple was chosen as the venue.

Four members attended from Cornwall, Pete English from Redruth and Ken Thomas from Helston both of whom have served as Presidents of the Southern Group and they were accompanied by their wives Tina and Joan, also very active members.

Pete serves as the Provincial Secretary for Plymouth and Truro Oddfellows and this year has seen him awarded the prestigious Unity Meritorious Jewel marking 52 years of membership and this is a very special year for him personally.

Meeting for a variety of activities in Plymouth, Truro, Redruth and other locations and with all the benefits of a well-established friendly society founded in 1810, the Oddfellows always welcomes new members of all ages and genders.

All enquiries should be directed to the secretary, Peter English on 01209 200810, by email to peter.english@oddfellows.co.uk , by post to the District Office at The Oddfellows Hall, 49 Green Lane, Redruth TR15 1LL, or via the Oddfellows website: https://www.oddfellows.co.uk/ where there is a wealth of information about the society and the support it offers it members.
