New Reservists for Plymouth
Two Army Reservists from Plymouth have just completed their Phase 1 Army Reserve training course, an exciting and challenging 2 weeks that includes physical training, shooting, first aid and all the basic skills and requirements that go to make up today’s Army Reserve Soldier.
The Reviewing Officer at their final parade at Pirbright, Major General Chris Tickell, said: "They have all worked very hard to successfully complete this demanding training course.
"They can now look forward to the exciting challenges of their specialist training, and the wide variety of overseas exercises, sport and adventurous training that will be on offer in their units.”
Gemma Cork, 20, lives in Keyham, and is a Senior Support Worker for Beyond Limits. She attended All Saints Academy but will now train as a Royal Army Medical Corps Medic for D Company, 6 RIFLES who are based at the Millbay Army Reserve centre on Plymouth Hoe.
In the same Company is Rifleman Sean Farrow, 19, also from Keyham, who will complete a Combat Infantry Course at Catterick as the next stage in his training.
Having now successfully completed their basic training, both Army Reservists will each receive a £1000 Training Completion Bonus and a 24% pay rise that comes with passing the course as they advance up the pay scale.
