Visitors to the National Trust’s Saltram estate in Plymouth will be able to celebrate summer in style as the property announces extended opening hours on Friday evenings throughout the summer.

From Friday 19 July to 30 August, visitors to the historic National Trust estate in Devon can enjoy the beauty of Saltram under the evening sun as the garden stays open until 7pm.

Fiona Macmillan, Property Operations Manager at Saltram said: “Whether it’s winding down after work or enjoying a leisurely evening with family and friends, the extended hours on Fridays offer a perfect opportunity to experience the Saltram’s stunning lawns and tranquil atmosphere.”

“We’re encouraging visitors old and new to bring their friends and family and enjoy the longer evenings with a picnic or pop into the Chapel Tearoom for some refreshment.”

“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to making Saltram a welcoming and accessible destination for everyone. We hope these evenings will create cherished memories and encourage more people to experience the natural and historical beauty of Saltram.”

This is just one of the new things visitors can experience at Saltram this season as the property launches its summer programme of events.

From 20 July – 1 September, families can unleash their creativity and playful spirit at Saltram’s 'Summer of Play' which will be running daily throughout the summer holidays.

Highlights of this jam-packed programme include ‘tournament Tuesdays’ featuring competitive games and Wild Wednesdays, where nature-based activities will encourage participants to connect with some of the nature that can be found at Saltram (booking essential). For the crafty at heart, there will be drop-in art workshops every Thursday featuring a new theme each week and the chance to add artwork to the giant 'Saltram summer scrapbook' from 26 to 31 August.

Visitors will also be able to pick up a ‘marvellous maker’ activity scrapbook for £1 from the Welcome Centre. Standard admission to the garden applies, free for National Trust members. Parking fees apply, free for members.

For Summer Late Nights the garden and Welcome Centre gates will be open until 7pm every Friday night from Friday, 19 July to 30 August. The shop will stay open until the later time of 6pm. The house and park café will close at their usual times. The event is free, but normal admission charges apply.
