Four great attractions to visit in Plymouth
The British coastal holiday is still very much alive and kicking, with it being a staple of the city dweller for over a century and remaining popular even to this day.
Some of the biggest destinations on the coast have historically been places like Brighton, Blackpool, and Newquay, but Plymouth is set in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and has deservedly become part of this list.
On the south coast, deep in the heart of Devon, this historic port city has plenty to offer tourists and those looking to get away from it all.
So, we have selected several possible attractions that should cater to everyone’s tastes on a visit to Plymouth. Read on to find out more:
Prysten House

This is the oldest house in the city and should be one of the places on your list, especially if you love history. It was built in 1498 from Plymouth limestone and Dartmoor granite and is owned by the county council. The property is a beautifully crafted, three-storey merchants house which is now a museum. It's a Grade I listed building and can be found on Finewell Street.
Plymouth casino
There are, in fact, two casinos in the city, which are both great places to relax and have some fun. Grosvenor casino can be found at Derrys Cross, while Genting Casino is just across the road. They offer table games and slots, similar to the online casino from Betfair which has jackpots worth over £12 million and an array of different games for players.
A visit to either of these two casinos can be incorporated with a few drinks or a bite to eat in the city centre.
Home Park
This is the home football stadium to local side Plymouth Argyle, who currently reside in League Two of the English Football League. The club play in striking green and white and have a large following both home and away.
The ground is located north of the city centre and, depending on the time of year you are visiting, would be a great place to watch some league football. The stadium has a very large, council-owned car park just outside it which is free to use on match days and can be reached using the park and ride from the city centre.
Drake Circus shopping centre

There is nothing like a bit of retail therapy, and Plymouth has the perfect destination for those partial to a bit of shopping. The shopping centre was built in 2006 and is home to a huge array of retail outlets and eateries.
In 2007, it won two retail industry national awards, and it's built behind Charles Church - another must-visit monument.
There are plenty of places to visit in this fine city, and we have only begun to scratch the surface, but one thing we can guarantee is that you won't be disappointed with what you find.
