A Day Of Seasonal Friendship And Fun At Plymouth Oddfellows
In the final meeting before Christmas, members of Pride of the West with St. Andrew’s Oddfellows Lodge met at St Budeaux Hall for a meeting chaired by Noble Grand, Sis. Brenda who opened the meeting by warmly welcoming the visiting Provincial Grand Master, Sis. Tina.
The agenda then moved on to agree dates for 2025 and to consider the welfare of members in need.
New arrangements for dental grant applications were discussed which took into account the increasing number of members on annual dental schemes and the Secretary, Bro. Pete outlined the new procedures for claims as well as updating members on the other benefits and support available.
Charitable giving was dealt with and all were heartened to see recent media coverage of the presentation made to one deserving local charitable cause, Help for Homeless, Plymouth.
A fine spread of refreshments included Christmas cake, mince pies and clotted cream, chocolate biscuits and fresh fruit which was enjoyed and the morning closed with a glass of port and a toast to friendship.
Lunch was a very sociable occasion indeed and the afternoon session included a Christmas quiz and puzzle, a book giveaway and take home puzzle sheets to be tackled over the Christmas holidays, and of course, teas, coffees and more mince pies and cream!
The Plymouth Oddfellows are next set to gather to enjoy a special celebratory Christmas lunch at Boringdon Park Golf Club.
