Craft and Food Market to add festive sparkle to Plymouth
Plans to introduce a brand new kind of Christmas market are underway in Plymouth following the success of Flavour Fest.
In partnership with Miss Ivy Events and Taste of the West, Plymouth City Centre Company are investing in a Christmas Craft and Food Market that will provide a different kind of produce than previous years.
50 stalls of independent businesses and food producers providing everything from traditional Christmas puddings to unique gift ideas will be situated along Armada Way in the heart of the city centre from Thursday 26 November until Sunday 6 December.
Traditional log cabin style stalls will be designed and built for the market and decorated with highly visible Christmas lights and traditional garlands creating a magical Christmas experience that will attract visitors from all over the region.
Doug Fletcher, Chair of Plymouth City Centre Company, said: “Work has already begun on our plans for the Christmas season and this year we want to offer something a bit more exciting for the market. We know how successful Flavour Fest is so we will be building on this by offering stalls to local South West food producers.
“In addition we also want to provide stalls that host Christmas gifts that are unique and that little bit special. We will continue to invest in the Christmas market and aspire to be as popular as other cities like Bath and Liverpool. We still have a few stalls up for grabs and we’re happy for businesses providing high quality Christmas related products to approach us, although these are likely to be snapped up quite quickly.”
Businesses interested in taking part in the Christmas Craft and Food Market can email Holly Reynolds, Assistant City Centre Company Manager, at holly.reynolds@citycentrebid.co.uk or call on 01752 305435.
A stunning £350,000 Christmas Lighting scheme with gold and white lights and snow falling affect features, set to be the only scheme of its kind in the region, will also form part of the overall Christmas festivities Plymouth has to offer this year.
Adjacent to the Christmas Market, and attracting large visitor numbers will be the brand new Winter Ice Rink, brought to Plymouth by national company Blue Martini, the Ice Rink specialists.
More information about the plans for Christmas in Plymouth will be announced over the coming weeks.
