Plymouth RNLI thankful for Valero donation

A donation of £4,000 has been welcomed by Plymouth’s RNLI Lifeboat Station, following a gift by a local fuel supply terminal.

Valero Energy Ltd operate the marine terminal in Cattedown, Plymouth, which is a critical part of the fuel supply network in the South West. Valero Terminal Manager Steve Phillips recently visited the RNLI Lifeboat Station to present the volunteers with a cheque to support their work saving lives at sea.

Operating both all-weather and inshore lifeboats, the RNLI launched on 126 occasions in 2021 and over 60 occasions so far in 2022, providing lifesaving assistance to users of the waters around Plymouth.

Terminal Manager Steve Phillips, said, “As an active user of the Sound, Valero is keenly aware of the important role the RNLI plays in helping people on the water and around our coasts. The work of the RNLI’s volunteers is truly remarkable and Valero is proud to be able to support their important efforts.”

Chris Westall, RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, said, “The RNLI is reliant on voluntary donations to power our lifesaving work. That’s why donations such as Valero’s are so welcome. We appreciate this kind contribution, which will be put to great use in saving lives.”
