Budleigh Freemasons support the visually impaired

Just before Christmas Colin Bytheway and Tom Pearman visited “WESC Foundation” the specialist charity for the visually impaired based in Exeter on behalf of the Masonic Lodge of Harmony who meet in Budleigh Salterton.

They visited WESC Foundation to present a cheque for £300 on behalf of their Lodge to support their work with young people with vision impairment.

WESC Foundation is one of Exeter's oldest charities, They started out as The Blind Institute in 1838 and went through several changes before moving to our current location on Topsham Road in 1949.

During the visit they met specialists from the Therapy and Mobility team who showed how their support will help them continue to transform the lives of the children and young adults they support. They also watched from afar as the WESC Foundation community came together for an end of term celebration.

When receiving the cheque Laurence Blyth said, Thank you to all the Brethren of the Lodge for supporting our charity’s work with children and young people from across the UK, including many who live here in Devon.

Presentations of £300 were also made by the Lodge of Harmony to both The Budleigh Salterton and District Hospiscare and Westbank Community Health and Care.

Colin Bytheway, from the Lodge of Harmony which meets in Budleigh Salterton, presented a cheque for £300 to Laurence Blyth, Head of External Affairs for the WESC Foundation. Tom Pearman (far left) from the Lodge of Harmony and Crawford Merry, also from the WESC, were pleased to be present at the occasion, and then joined all the Foundation Community for a pre Christmas, socially-distanced celebration.
