Winkleigh based Surf Bay Leisure, the largest distributor of new and used static caravans in the UK, has pledged its support for local children’s charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by sponsoring its upcoming Moonlight Memory Walk.

Surf Bay Leisure buy and sell new and second hand static caravan holiday homes and lodges across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset; the same area that CHSW covers with its support of children and young people with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness. CHSW has three children’s hospices; Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in mid-Cornwall and supports more than 550 families.

Surf Bay Leisure has chosen to support the charity through sponsoring its upcoming Moonlight Memory Walk which is taking place at The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall on 12 November.

The event is a 4km sponsored evening walk where participants walk in memory and celebration of their loved ones. The event is now in its 13th year and is popular with those wishing to do something tangible to remember their loved ones while also supporting a special local charity.

Adam and Darren, Directors at Surf Bay Leisure said; “We wanted to support our local children’s hospice, and Moonlight Memory Walk is poignant to what the charity does to support families across the South-West.”

Kiley Pearce, Event Fundraiser at CHSW and organiser of the Moonlight Memory Walk said; “We are so incredibly grateful to have the generous event sponsorship from this local business. In simple terms their sponsorship means that even more of the money raised by those taking part in the event, and collecting sponsorship from their friends and family, can go straight towards the care we offer our families rather than on event costs.”

There are two ways to get involved in the event, either by taking part on the night at The Lost Gardens of Heligan, or by getting involved virtually by completing your own memory walk, leaving an online dedication to a loved one via the website www.chsw.org.uk/moonlight , and watching the live streaming via the CHSW Facebook page of the memory ceremony before the walk at Heligan.

The event is a sell out with all places being filled.
