Murray victory sets up Wimbledon final against Djokovic

Andy Murray will play his second Wimbledon final after winning his semi-final in four sets 6-7 6-4 6-4 6-3.

Andy Murray lost the first set to his young Polish opponent Jerzy Janowicz on a tie break, but thereafter he took control of his fifth consecutive Wimbledon semi-final to win and set up an intriguing showdown against his great friend and rival Novak Djokovic for the Wimbledon crown on Sunday.

Djokovic beat the Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro in a five set thriller.

Janowicz, a giant of man at 6ft 8ins and serving at up to 140mph, looked nerveless as he took the first set to a tie break which he won comfortably.

However Murray served consistently and come the second and third sets, drew on his gifted return of serve to break Janowicz and get his nose in front.

Victory did not come without alarm. Facing a 4-1 deficit in the third set, the Scot's form dipped but he turned his fortunes around by winning five games in a row. At which point the match was suspended while the roof was closed to ensure a finish with light fading after a late start due to the marathon Djokovic versus del Potro semi.

Murray was unimpressed with the haste of the referee's decision, but on the players' return, he looked steely determined and quickly proved too good for the fierce young Polish player whose time will surely come.

So after all the upsets and vanquished superstars, it will be seed number one and two on Sunday.

For Djokovic, it provides a chance to add a second Wimbledon title to his win in 2011 and a seventh grand slam.

For Murray, his second successive Wimbledon final will be a chance to consign last year's disappointment against Federer to history and provide Briatin with its first Wimbledon men's champion for 77 years. No pressure then.
