Flapjackery sponsors Tavistock's first ever eat:Tavistock food and drink festival
Flapjackery, the Tavistock-based confectionery company specialising in gluten-free flapjacks, is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of Tavistock's inaugural eat:Tavistock food and drink festival. Scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, this exciting event promises to be a celebration of the finest local fare, crafts, and entertainment that West Devon has to offer.
Founded nine years ago by Carol Myott and Sally Jenkin, Flapjackery hand makes its flapjacks and confectionery at its bakery in Tavistock. Their dedication to creating mouthwatering gluten-free flapjacks has earned them a loyal following and widespread acclaim. With the opening of their first shop in Tavistock five years ago and subsequent expansion to a further nine locations, and two upcoming launches in Dartmouth and Falmouth this year, Flapjackery continues to grow across the region and beyond.
The free-to-attend eat:Tavistock festival, organised by eat:Festivals, is set to showcase the diverse talents of over 60 local food and drink producers, alongside traditional craftspeople. From local ales, ciders, and wines to artisanal bread, cakes, and pies, visitors to the festival can expect a feast for the senses. The event will also feature a variety of street food, spirits, charcuterie, and live music, ensuring a vibrant and unforgettable experience for all.
"We are over the moon to be supporting such a great event for Tavistock, which will bring many new people to the town," remarked Carol. "It will also be a chance for local food and drink producers to showcase their products. There are so many great small producers in the Westcountry who highlight the tastes and flavours of the region that it looks set to be a fantastic day of great tastes in a fabulous atmosphere."
Sarah Milner Simonds, event organiser of eat:Festivals, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration saying: “We are delighted to deliver Tavistock’s first eat:Festival, in celebration of the area’s finest food, drink and crafts. I encourage residents and visitors to go along and support our amazing, local businesses.
She added: “Markets are part of the fabric of towns and cities across the UK. We know our events generate environmental and economic benefits by supporting family producers and farmers. We need to help their micro and small businesses stay afloat during these turbulent times, for the sake of the local economic wellbeing and long-term visions of vibrant town centres. It is great to be working with the local BID."
Beverley Milner Simonds, co-organiser, added,"There will be over 60 local producers including farmers market favourites such as local ales, ciders and wine, bread cakes and pies plus street food, spirits and charcuterie, plus music and street entertainers. Many thanks to Flapjackery for their support of this festival."
The eat:Tavistock festival will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, along Duke Street and Bedford Square. Admission is free, and attendees can expect diversions in place from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM to accommodate the festivities.
