Celebrate World Book Day with free interactive reading sessions across Plymouth
Free interactive storytelling workshops will be taking place across the city to celebrate World Book Day.
The ‘Up Again’ inclusive reading sessions, hosted by Plymouth-based theatre company Above Bounds, will see books by local author, Becca Coslett, brought to life through song, dance puppets and play.
Aimed at children aged seven and under, the free workshops will be taking place in Drake Circus’ atrium on Saturday 25th February and Thursday 2nd March, as well as three other venues across Plymouth including The Sundial, the Central Library and The Box.
Montessori-aligned, inclusive and accessible, with diverse characters, gender-neutral language and a wide range of family structures, Becca’s Children’s Books illustrate the key moments in a child’s day. The stories use simple language and positive affirmations to help children gain the confidence, skills and phrases needed in order to develop independence in everyday activities and situations.
Greg Lumley, centre director at Drake Circus, said: “Supporting our community is very important to us, which is why it’s great to get involved in hosting these interactive and inclusive reading workshops. We look forward to welcoming Becca and the Above Bounds team to the centre to provide local children and their families with an engaging and fun way to celebrate World Book Day.”
