Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping is back – bigger, better and with a fresh new look for 2022

Following a two-year hiatus, Totnes Town Council, Visit Totnes, and Miss Ivy Events have joined forces to reimagine Totnes at Christmastime. The result is not one, but three fabulous, festive shopping events that are designed to boost town centre trade whilst creating outings packed with festive fun for all the family.

On three consecutive Tuesdays in December, the 6th, 13th and 20th, from 3pm until 9pm, Totnes town will come alive to the sights, sounds and smells of Christmastime.

The events will give a much needed boost to town centre trade and bring the Totnes community and surrounding areas together like never before to enjoy heart-warming festive entertainment, delicious street-food, and gift-shopping. Considerable effort has gone into creating fun activities for kids. There’s a fiendishly fun gnome trail around the town, street entertainers aplenty, Christmas pom-pom crafting workshops, and the community’s talented 11 to 17-year-old makers will be selling their creations at a dedicated youth market in the Seven Stars. What’s more, thanks to some seventy local market-traders and artisan crafters, and a brilliant community of shop owners, many of whom will stay open late, visitors will enjoy the absolute best gift-shopping experience in the run up to the big day itself.

As event management company Director Jo Macaskie says, Miss Ivy Events was conceived some 14 years ago by a desire to support local businesses. Little did I know back then just how important those founding principles would be. In recent years we’ve lurched from a pandemic to a cost of living crisis. Now more than ever before, its important for shoppers to realise the positive impact that spending even a small amount of money in your nearby town centre can have on the local economy. What’s more I’m delighted to find likeminded folk at Visit Totnes and Totnes Town Council. Together we hope to make these three days successful on all counts and draw 2022 to a close on a high.
