Stagecoach Gold roadshow paves the way for new premium bus service
- Stagecoach Gold roadshow to visit five locations from 23 to 27 September
- Premium ‘5 star’ services launches following Monday (30 September 2013)
- Gold route connects the English Riviera with Plymouth or Dartmouth
- £2m investment in luxurious fleet of 9 buses, featuring leather seats and free Wi-Fi
- Accompanying ‘Customer Promise’ offers guaranteed service standards
Next week Devon residents can get a sneak preview of Stagecoach South West’s new luxury bus service, Stagecoach Gold, when one of the brand new vehicles tours key locations along the route.
The Stagecoach Gold roadshow will run from Monday 23 September to Friday 27 September and can be found at the following venues from approximately 10am to 4pm each day:
Monday September 23 Union Street, Torquay
Tuesday September 24 Near pedestrian bridge to Glanvilles Mill Shopping Centre, Ivybridge
Wednesday September 25 Victoria Street, Paignton
Thursday September 26 South Embankment, near to the Pontoon, Dartmouth
Friday September 27 Plymouth Piazza
The roadshow will be manned by drivers of the new service who will be on hand to answer any questions, giveaway timetables, free gifts and – for the first 100 lucky visitors on each day - special ‘Golden Ticket’ family Explorer vouchers. These can only be redeemed on the new service and give up to two adults and three children the chance to experience a day out on Gold for free!
The introduction of the flagship ‘5 star’ brand to Devon is a coup for customers as it is reserved for only a select number of locations across the country.
Michael Watson, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, commented: “I hope people will take the opportunity to visit the roadshow and experience a Gold bus for themselves before we even go into service! These vehicles really are something a bit special - there’s extra leg room, leather seats and free Wi-Fi and the engines are amongst the most environmentally-friendly on the road. They really do bring a bit of luxury to bus travel.”
The brand new £2m Stagecoach Gold fleet will run between Torquay, Paignton, Totnes and Plymouth or Dartmouth from Monday 30th September, operating up to every 30 minutes, 7 days a week between Torquay, Paignton and Totnes and then offering an hourly connection to either Dartmouth or Plymouth via Ivybridge.
Stagecoach Gold is also characterised by its ‘Customer Promise’ which enshrines the service standards customers can expect from the company, vehicles and drivers. Details of the Customer Promise, along with the Stagecoach Gold timetable and route map, can be found online at www.stagecoachbus.com/southwest. Printed timetables will be distributed to outlets along the route by Friday 20 September.
