Plymouth Pavilions and Ocean Pay reach new heights with launch of the brand new Upstage Bar
The region’s largest indoor arena Plymouth Pavilions and Ocean Pay, the Plymouth based company leading the way with their customer centric business solutions have opened a brand new bar within the venue. Completed over the summer by South West construction firm Brady Construction Services, the sleek new bar is one of the highlights of the venue’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Positioned at the entrance to the new Millbay Boulevard and at the heart of the regeneration of the area, the Pavilions commitment to constantly evolving for the needs of the community has meant many changes over the years. As a rare large scale independent venue it’s first stand-alone decade has seen the venue remain in it’s own right a major player in drawing international acts to the city.
The new bar has been a labour of love for the team at the Pavilions, the dark colour scheme with polished copper highlights and antiqued mirrors has given a new lease of life to the area formally inaccessible to the public and used as office space. Equipped with a new set of toilet facilities including two ambulant cubicles and an additional disabled unit, the highlight is the beautiful 16 metre resin set bar top inlaid with hand placed pennies. Capped off with the previously hidden view of the Plymouth night time skyline the Upstage Bar is a credit to the team who collaborated to create a beautiful space for customers enjoying the biggest shows in the South West.
“Brady Construction Services are delighted to have worked on such an innovative design for the new bar and to have completed our second successful project with Plymouth Pavilions utilising local trades people in the City.” said David Agnew, Director.
Partnering with local businesses from suppliers to promoters and supporting South West organisations is one of the key values at the heart of the Pavilions. Ocean Pay have supplied the Pavilions crucial business services since 2018 and the venue cite the impeccable level of service for the success of the relationship, “Card machine companies are too often faceless organisations that do not go the extra distance to give the best service and work-ability to the customer,” said Visitor Services Manager Mike Hardie. “This is not the case with Ocean Pay. Friendly, personal and adaptable. A company that is happy to listen to the needs of a company, and come up with the best solution to fit their requirements.”
Originating with PDQ provision Ocean Pay’s work with the Pavilions has gone from strength to strength as businesses globally have adapted in line with advances in technology such as contactless payment and have continued to provide flexible solutions for the venue. The sponsorship of the Upstage Bar is the next step in this relationship as the two organisations work together to support customers, and the Pavilions aren’t the only fans as satisfied Ocean Pay customers both regionally and nationally testify. Local clients include popular Plymouth mainstays Barbican landmark The Harbour Restaurant, community stronghold The Hyde Park and the Pavilions newest Millbay neighbour The Depo.
““The new Upstage Bar is a fantastic space and a great way for us to take our partnership with Pavilions to the next level, ‘proud to be working with local businesses’ is one of the core values at the heart of Ocean Pay and supporting growth in the region is key to doing so,” Keith Moore, Managing Director.
