Free half term entertainment in the Lorna Doone Valley as the National Trust host family festival
The National Trust in North Devon are hosting a fun-filled family autumn activity day on Tuesday 25 October at their Exmoor site in the Lorna Doone Valley.
The day is free to attend and will feature a wide range of nature and craft activities from wood whittling and pyrography to river dipping with the National Trust rangers.
Visitors to the festival can also have fun discovering some of Exmoor’s most famous myths and legends as part of a free pumpkin trail running in the Valley throughout the half term period (Saturday 15th October - Sunday 30th October).
Alison Marsden, Property Operations Manager for the National Trust at Lorna Doone, commented “This is the first time we have run an event like this in the Lorna Doone Valley and we’re forward to welcoming visitors of all ages to this beautiful part of Exmoor over half term.”
She continued “It’s the perfect time to appreciate nature at its autumn best with a stroll through these beautiful surroundings before heading to the Buttery café for a warming drink by the log fire. This half term there is an extra incentive to visit with the kids as from 22 - 30 October we are offering a free kids lunch box for children aged 12 or under, every time someone spends £5 in our cafe!”
Other events taking place at the Lorna Doone Valley throughout October include night walks with the ranger team, star gazing and astrophotography sessions where participants can capture the beauty of the Exmoor landscape at night.
