Donkey Sanctuary Gift Shop scoops top Devon award 

The Donkey Sanctuary’s on-site Gift Shop has won the Best Devon Attraction Retail Shop of the Year award. 

The venue at the Sidmouth sanctuary has been named as the overall Devon winner for its best range, choice, appropriateness, local sourcing, display and pricing in the Devon’s Top Attractions’ 2023 awards. 

The Gift Shop, in the heart of the Sidmouth sanctuary, is stacked with donkey inspired souvenirs and gifts, from calendars to Christmas cards, and donkey soft toys to donkey design socks. 

It aims to provide its visitors with ethically sourced products, with many items being made locally in the South West. Shoppers can also be assured that profits from every purchase help the animal welfare charity care for its resident herds and reach more donkeys in need. 

Emma Grattan, the Gift Shop’s retail manager said: “We are thrilled to receive this award and are very lucky to have an enthusiastic and dedicated team who work very hard throughout the year to make the Gift Shop the best it can be.” 

The latest accolade follows on from the sanctuary’s Gold Award for its on-site restaurant ‘The Kitchen’, in the recent 2023 Food Drink Devon awards. 

The Donkey Sanctuary is open to visitors every day from 9am to 4pm, except Christmas Day, and as always, it remains a free attraction for everyone.
