Carol service celebrates emergency service workers

On Monday 4 December, Truro Cathedral hosted their annual blue light carol service, an event dedicated to celebrating emergency service workers.

Assistant Chief Constable Jim Pearce and other officers from Devon & Cornwall Police were proud to attend the special event and take part in the festive celebrations. It was attended by blue light workers from various organisations.

The music filled evening, led by Reverend Canon Alan Bashforth, featured a host of readings, Christmas carols and performances by Kernow Pipes and Drums and the Rock Choir. During the service, Superintendent Ian Thompson led the ‘Police Officer’s Christmas Prayer’ and Chief Superintendent Ian Drummond-Smith read ‘The Wise Men Visit the Messiah’.

Superintendent Ian Thompson said: “It was a pleasure to attend the blue light carol service and to have the opportunity to lead one of the readings on the evening. It’s a wonderful occasion, bringing together so many emergency service workers. We are so thankful to Truro Cathedral for hosting the service. 

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our communities for the support they have offered us this year. Together, we can continue to make our communities safer.

“We hope you will see many of our officers out-and-about in local communities over the festive season, please say hello when you see them” added Superintendent Ian Thompson.
