Hemyock Football Club team showcases brand new kit sporting the Devon Air Ambulance and St Margaret's Somerset Hospice charity logos

Prior to last Saturday's game against Amory Green Rovers, Hemyock FC launched their brand-new kit for the season, proudly featuring the logos of two much-loved local charities, Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) and St Margaret's Somerset Hospice.

Supporter Services Manager at DAA, Natasha Meldau, went along to the official launch and thanked everyone at Hemyock FC for their fantastic support. Not only did the team shirts help to highlight the charity and the lifesaving service it provides across Devon and beyond, but the shirts also represent a special place in the hearts of many at the club who have been touched personally by both charities.

Sam Iddon, first team manager and secretary at Hemyock RFC, lost his mum, Sue, in July 2022 to cancer.  The previous eighteen months had been heart-breaking for the family. However, the team at St Margaret's Somerset Hospice played a crucial role providing the family with support that was dearly needed throughout Sue's battle with cancer.

Sam commented:   “Our pitch, at Longmead is a community night-time landing site for the air ambulance - a valuable resource that enables them to land in a pre-surveyed site to reach patients in the Culm Valley”.

Devon air ambulance also came to the aid of Sam's grandfather who survived a heart attack back in 2006 at the nearby Culmstock Beacon. More recently in 2015, committee member and full-back, Liam Hole's 12 year-old brother, Oliver Croker, was fatally wounded whilst watching a football match in Bradninch. On that day, the air ambulance was dispatched and came to Oliver's aid.

Tracy Owen, Corporate Engagement Manager at Devon Air Ambulance added:  "We hope you agree that the team look absolutely awesome. It is due to the kind and generous support of clubs, businesses and people across Devon that we can continue to respond to those that need our emergency medical help. Thank you Hemyock FC for your continued support - we all hope your new kit brings you lots of luck for the season!"

Both charities rely solely on charitable donations and support from the public and Hemyock Football Club are delighted to play a part in the great work that they do.
