Electric vehicle charging service provider, Wenea, has reached a deployment milestone with 55 EV chargers now live in its UK network, with more than 30 of those in Devon. Wenea expects to have 200 chargers deployed by the end of 2023, with the aim of accelerating the transition to electric mobility.

The Devon chargers are spread across Exeter, Exmouth, Beer, Sidmouth, Colyton, and Axminster with more locations in the pipeline. The chargers in these locations will also support tourism from EV owners. Wenea is working in partnership with local tourism organisations to promote this to visitors to Devon this summer.

Much of the charging hubs are at on-street locations as part of partnerships with local authorities, bringing EV charging capability to residents who do not have off-street parking.

Jose Contreras, Wenea, says, “We are working with many local councils to identify UK locations that would benefit from EV charging solutions. We recognise the challenges that many communities face in not easily being able to access EV charging and are working hard to rectify this.”

He continues, “Many of our chargers are also located in areas of high tourism – providing much needed EV infrastructure to support the tourist industry and open up parts of the UK to EV drivers.”

The Wenea roll out features a mix of fast and rapid charging solutions. The chargers are supported by the Wenea App which has over 100,000 users across Europe. Prioritising communities that need better EV charging infrastructure, Wenea has also deployed EV chargers in Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, and Scotland.
