The Great Estate - Cornwall’s newest summer festival

Festival guru’s Quick Panda Productions announce the launch of a new festival, The Great Estate, which will take place on Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th June 2017.

Set in the prestigious grounds of Scorrier House, the event will combine music, art, food, comedy and fashion.

Blending southwest vibes with a slight Liverpudlian twist, The Great Estate’s first music line-up plays host to a string of exciting acts including Echo and the Bunnymen, Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show, The Showhawk Duo, YouTube cover star Daisy Clark and Electric Swing Circus.

Surrounded by 450 acres and embodying an important part of Cornish history, Scorrier House provides the perfect location for a summer party. Nestled within old walled gardens, wild meadows and ancient woodland, The Great Estate will burst to life for three days of magic, mystery and unexpected happenings.

From Liverpool to Cornwall, English rock heroes Echo and the Bunnymen will be making the long commute south to headline The Great Estate on Saturday 3rd June. Famed for their album, Ocean Rain featuring hit single ‘The Killing Moon,’ their profound musical talent has influenced bands such as Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers.

Legendary actor, host and broadcaster Craig Charles will be bringing his trunk of funk to The Great Estate on Sunday 4th June for his much-anticipated festival takeover. Dictating the music schedule from afternoon through to evening, his inimitable skills have earned him global support as one of the UK’s foremost funk and soul commentators, DJ’s and promoters of new music.

Young British guitarists Mikhail Asanovic and Jake Wright, together known as The Showhawk Duo, will join Saturday’s lineup with their spectacular approach to playing the guitar. Breaking down barriers between acoustic and electronic, this lively pair have re-thought traditional musical structure creating their own all-encompassing genre that is guaranteed to blow minds.

Famed for her cover of Grease’s hit single ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You,’ YouTube sensation Daisy Clark will be performing live at this year’s festival. Growing up just down the road in Newquay, Daisy has been tipped for international success after her cover got viewed over 6 million times.

A fusion of saucy 20's swing and stomping electro beats is expected to bring the crowd to their feet on Friday 2nd June as The Electric Swing Circus take to the main stage. Boasting an explosive sound that reverberates back through time, this high-energy band are likely to hotfoot their way through most music genres. Other acts include

For partygoers looking to control their own music mix, a winding pathway will lead eager revelers to a secret forest glade where the Woodland Silent Disco can be found hidden amongst the trees. Playing until the wee hours, DJ’s will battle it out spinning the best in pop, rock and club classics.

Glitz, glamour and risqué happenings await guests in Madame Wong's House of Wrong. From dazzling cabaret and flamboyant burlesque, to fire dancing and sword swallowing, the weird and wonderful blend adds a unique element to this diverse new festival.

Flowering urns and blossoming borders line the entrance to The Great Estate’s onsite wellness area, The Sanctuary. Offering head-to-toe pampering with treatments and an onsite spa, festival-goers can unwind in wood-fired hot tubs or indulge in a relaxing massage. Holistic healers will also be on hand throughout the weekend providing reiki, sound bath healing, tarot reading and crystal healing. Sleepy heads can kick-start the day with invigorating morning yoga sessions or gently ease tired minds through guided meditation classes.

Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair will be bringing a carefully curated vintage marketplace to The Great Estate this June. This shopping phenomenon offers a selection of vintage, re-worked and hand made stalls so fashion lovers can shop everything from 50s florals to 80s brights.

For those looking to catch a bird’s eye view of The Great Estate, tethered hot air balloon rides will be flying festival guests high above the trees on Saturday 3rd June. The ultimate way to enjoy breathtaking views across the magnificent grounds of Scorrier House, this unique opportunity will be loved by all the family.

Catering for toddlers through to teens, The Playground is a fun packed area dedicated to entertaining young festival-goers across the weekend. Filled with fairground rides, bouncy castles, workshops and stalls, kids will be spoilt for choice with dream catcher making sessions, forestry workshops, face painting, circus skills training and storytelling. Adding to the excitement, The Great Estate will also host a children’s silent disco for smaller music lovers.

Festival guests are also encouraged to look out for the Secret Gin Garden, dedicated Tattoo Parlour and Vineyards of Babylon.

Energetic festival goers can cycle to and from Scorrier House via the picturesque Mineral Tramways Coast to Coast Trail. Starting from Portreath, Bissoe or Devoran, cyclists can meander along the early horse-drawn tramroads taking in the beautiful countryside before arriving at the festival gates.
