Two organisations are teaming up to produce a day filled with information and entertainment for folk music lovers on Saturday 12 April.

The events start in the afternoon at 1pm with talks at Plymouth Central Library and continue into the evening with a concert featuring local Plymouth-based hero James Findlay plus support at Stoke Damerel Parish Hall, Paradise Road, Stoke, Plymouth. Doors open at 7.30pm with music from 8pm.

The Devonshire Association Music Section and the Traditional Song Forum are joining forces to present this day, which centres around the traditional songs of Devon and its neighbours.

"We're delighted to invite the Traditional Song Forum to Devon and look forward to welcoming everyone to the talks and to the concert in the evening" said Paul Wilson, one of the organisers. "People often ask me if folk music has a future and we're promoting this day to look back at some of the history and older songs and we've also booked young James Findlay as a skilful, young and passionate singer since he's a strong part of the local scene and the future of folk music."

James is a singer, guitarist and fiddler with Westcountry roots who is definitely going places. Following on from winning the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2010, he has released two albums one of which "Sport And Play" entered the MOJO top 10 albums of 2012. Now a third album is in preparation mastered by Sean Lakeman.

James' reviewers have dubbed him 'a singer of rare strength and conviction' BBC R2 magazine and 'A great voice' English Dance and Song.

James will be supported on Saturday by Marilyn Tucker and Paul Wilson, Tom and Barbara Brown, "Dartmoor" Bill Murray, Martin and Shan Graebe and more.

Tickets are on the door at £6 (£3 concessions for DA or TSF members) and people are invited to bring their own drinks.
