489 bags donated in Plymouth for the Great British Bag-athon
British Heart Foundation (BHF) shops are delighted to announce that 489 bags of goods were donated to their Great British Bag-athon event held at Drake Circus. The donated items will now go on to be sold in local BHF shops and could generate up to £9,780 to help fund life-saving research.
The Great British Bag-athon is BHF shops' biggest stock donation appeal, aiming to raise 1 million bags of unwanted things throughout September.
Greg Lumley, Centre Director at Drake Circus commented:
“We are delighted that 489 bags were filled and donated to the Great British Bag-athon by the Plymouth community and would like to say a big thank you. The profits raised will go straight into the fight against heart disease by funding vital, life-saving research.”
Greg continued:
“There’s still time to join in with the Great British Bag-athon. There are 2.3 million people living with coronary heart disease in the UK, so the charity’s fight against heart disease is an ongoing battle. If you weren’t able to fill bags for the event at the shopping centre, you can still join in by giving bags of items to your local BHF shop.”
Please fill bags full of unwanted clothes, shoes toys, books, CDs, DVDs and homewares.

Last financial year (2012-2013), BHF Shops raised over £31 million to help the BHF fight heart disease, the nation’s single biggest killer.
