Latest Plymouth Science Park tenant launches a business with charity at its heart

Revolution Recruitment are the latest tenant to join the thriving business community at Plymouth Science Park. Set up as a social enterprise, Revolution Recruitment aims to give back to the local community through their work.

The newly formed business which specialises in recruitment for engineering, building services, and facilities management, both locally and nationwide, has a dedicated division for delivering the social enterprise element of the business, and supports the local community by offering any Plymouth-based company an automatic 25% reduction on their standard terms of business.

Director Toby Coates said: “As a new business we’re keen to connect with local people and Plymouth Science Park provides us with fantastic opportunities to meet with business leaders across a range of sectors.

“Since establishing earlier this month, we’ve joined the Plymouth and Devon Chamber of Commerce and are offering Chamber members and Plymouth Science Park tenants a fixed price deal until the end of January 2022.

“Supporting people over profit is our ethos and is at the heart of everything that we do. The support we have received from the Science Park team and other tenants based at the Park as we establish our business on the site has been outstanding, and we’re looking forward to growing Revolution Recruitment within this supportive business community.

Revolution Recruitment are working towards obtaining the Aspiring Social Enterprise Mark and have ambitious plans to grow the business at Plymouth Science Park.

Toby Coates said: “We are aiming to grow the team by 4 or 5 people within a year, and at the end of year one, will start to recruit junior staff through apprenticeships and the university. We’ll be hiring young people with no experience but lots of enthusiasm, and training them to become expert recruiters.”

Goals for expansion also include the funding and launching of a sister charity which will deliver a number of key services to the people of Plymouth, including a 24-hour mental health drop in clinic, as well as initiatives to support food banks and soup kitchens for the homeless.

Fay Davies, Business Development Manager at Plymouth Science Park, said: “We are delighted to welcome Revolution Recruitment to the Park. As a social enterprise business they are certainly turning traditional recruitment on its head by offering a range of initiatives to support young people into the sector, as well as supporting local people through a mental health drop-in clinic and services for the homeless. We’re looking forward to watching their growth journey and seeing other businesses in the region thrive and grow with Revolution Recruitment’s expert support.”
