High tech PSP based video company livestreams conferences

A Plymouth Science Park based company is using the latest digital technology to ‘livestream’ conferences and provide a welcome boost to the marketing of products for businesses across the south west.

Virtual Light Productions can film and broadcast conferences onto the internet from the 25 acre site in Derriford and also utilise PSP’s excellent technical facilities to conduct interviews and filming on behalf of its corporate clients.

“It’s a great area to work in,” explains Steve Hill, Director of Virtual Light Productions.

“The helpful on-site team can provide meeting rooms which are ideal for us as we can transform them into studios so clients have a quiet place to be filmed.”

“By being on-site we found that we quickly built up a number of contacts with other PSP firms which has resulted in additional business which can benefit from using multi camera shoots to cover conferences and corporate events.”

The team has found audiences for live streaming can vary in size from around 100 up to thousands as people ‘tune in’ to watch speakers deliver their message from a podium - flanked by large screens to underline and enforce the impact of their words.

They can also manage web content and motion graphics to produce sharp and powerful messages.

“People won’t necessarily read everything on a website but they will watch a video,” explains Steve.

“We produce lots of films for businesses with many of them impactful because they last less than a minute and capture the viewer’s interest."

"The power of video over the written word is growing ever stronger.”

Virtual Light Productions has been based at Plymouth Science Park since March this year and were initially attracted by the ample parking, secure storage facilities for equipment, easy 24/7 access - together with a global reputation for its work in the science and technology sector.

Virtual Light Productions is also heavily involved in football coverage and use its expertise and equipment to provide an outstanding service for Plymouth Argyle.

Steve and his team are currently working on an end of season DVD for Plymouth Argyle with a release date expected in June.

It’s being produced in conjunction with both the Club itself and also Lovejoy Productions.

“It’s been a remarkable season for Plymouth Argyle and we’re producing a double disc set - which should include footage from all matches.”

Virtual Light Productions also provides films, and photography, for holiday rental properties so potential clients can make a virtual tour of the house before they decide to book it for their holiday.
