About last year’s Tour of Britain
The second stage of the international cycle race set off from Sherford’s main street, heading along the coast and across Dartmoor to finish in Exeter. It posed plenty of challenges for riders with three climbs and an undulating 115-mile course. Some of the world’s top cyclists were in action in Devon, including British cycling legend Mark Cavendish.
The Devon stage of the Tour of Britain 2021 attracted the biggest crowd of the whole race, with 200,000 spectators – bringing more than £4.2 million into the local economy. A worldwide TV audience of 17 million watched the 8-day race, which was won overall by Wout Van Aert.
