Ashtorre Artists 10th Summer Exhibition - Saltash
New and original paintings, drawings and prints
For two weeks this summer the upstairs studio at Ashtorre Rock, Saltash is being transformed into an impressive gallery by the Ashtorre Artists group for their 2018 summer exhibition. This will be the tenth show since their formation in 2009 when the goal was to create 150 images of Brunel’s Royal Albert rail bridge in celebration of its 150 year anniversary.
In successive years the group of twelve artists from both sides of the Tamar have come together to explore various other aspects of the gallery’s stunning riverside setting beside the bridge and have looked for ways to use this source material to create both literal and abstract interpretations from perhaps an unexpected viewpoint.
This year pupils of two Saltash Primary Schools are also contributing to a section connecting with 'the final straw’ campaign, whilst visitors of any age will have an opportunity to engage in an interactive artwork should they choose to take up the challenge.
With superb views down the Tamar and refreshments available on the terrace, it’s an inspiring location for such an exhibition and well worth a visit! There is ample parking nearby and if coming by rail it is a short walk down from Saltash station.
Free admission 10am - 4pm daily Aug 25th to Sep 9th.
