Plymouth lifeboat's annual open day

This Sunday, 3 August, at 11am, the RNLI Plymouth lifeboats will be holding their annual open day at the Prince William Yard in Stonehouse.

Both of the Plymouth lifeboats will be on show.

The inshore lifeboat, a Atlantic75 called Millennium Forester, and the all-weather boat a Severn class lifeboat named Sybil Mullen Glover, will be afloat in the Royal William Yard marina....

Plymouth lifeboats among the busiest as RNLI sees 24% rise in summer incidents

Prolonged sunshine and the hottest summer for seven years (according to the Met Office) kept RNLI teams across the south west busy this summer.

Provisional statistics released by the charity for the period June, July and August show a 24% increase in incidents for RNLI lifeguards, and lifeboat crews attending 652 rescues.

‘Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire’ charity event!

Staff at a Plymouth secondary school got a rare chance to step in to a fire fighter’s boots for the night after winning a drill evening at a recent fundraising event.
