Wild About Plymouth: Plymouth's Buzzing

Come and help Buglife find out what bees, butterflies and other buzzing wildlife have moved in to our new urban meadows. Hunt in the grass, explore the plants and discover the huge number of insects which to move pollen from one plant to another. Experts will be on hand to identify your finds.

There are large car parks next to the Life Centre and on-street parking around the edge of Central Park in the Peverell area. Meet us in Central Park at the pedestrian roundabout with the clock, behind the Mayflower and Life Centres.

See a real store on display in our gallery as we carry out the largest review of our social history collection we’ve ever done!

The collection includes a wide variety of items relating to peoples’ daily lives and features over 5,000 objects, ranging from fragments of buildings, televisions, radios, gas cookers to marbles and make up.

On certain days you’ll be able to see our curators and conservators at work in the exhibition space.

There will also be a number of opportunities for you to get involved. Come in and look at the objects we care for, write your own...

Art Bites: Women in Art: Behind the Canvas

Fancy spending half an hour taking a bite-sized look at our decorative art collections and art exhibitions? If so, why not join us for a 30-minute tour?

Admission is free but places are limited. Collect a ticket from our Welcome Desk or call us and we will post or put one aside for you. Unreserved tickets may also be available on the day so it's worth getting in touch with us to check.

Unless stated, no two tours are the same so there's always a reason to come back and discover more! Everyone who attends our 'Art Bites' tours can use their ticket to get a 20 per cent...

An introduction to life 'below stairs' and also on the estate at Mount Edgcumbe. Brought to life with photos and stories from the past.

Starts at 11.30am to 12.30pm and costs £5 per person which includes entry to the House and Earls Garden on the day.

Wine tasting and sumptuous supper

A great opportunity to enjoy a light-hearted but informative wine tasting led by local wine merchant, Charles Steevenson from Charles Steevenson Wines of Tavistock. Charles will guide you through a diverse selection of wines of intrigue from around the globe. With his wealth of knowledge he will de-mystify the complexities of the modern wine list, the influences of the principle grape varieties, key styles of production and offer guidance on food/wine pairing.
