A concert to entertain the family, this annual gathering of the Peninsula Doctors’ Orchestra invites you to share their musical enjoyment. Parting donations welcome in aid of the University of Plymouth Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence, which raises vital funds for research into the prevention and treatment of brain tumours.
University of Plymouth Music Week showcases the enormous diversity and quality of music that happens in and around the University.
The majority of the performers are staff and students both from the music degree course and the University ensembles that are open to all.
Designed for all to enjoy, the second annual Music Week will feature gospel, jazz, improvisation, rock, contemporary composed music, electronics and the amazing sound of the Balinese gamelan.

On Friday 8th December this year La La Choirs will perform the 3rd annual ‘CLIC for Christmas’ concert at Exeter Cathedral in aid of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. In 2015 we raised £9,600, in 2016 we raised £12,000 and for 2017 we are aiming even higher!

Enjoy uplifting music including the Christmas story featured in Part 1 of Handel’s celebrated oratorio, Messiahi, that overflows with stirring choruses and evocative solo arias depicting the coming of the Christ Child gloriously announced by angels.
The concert will also include traditional carols. This is what Christmas is all about – a festival of singing and rejoicing!
Plymouth University Orchestra will perform a selection of orchestra works prepared during the term with additional pieces for strings, wind and brass ensembles.
The Orchestra comprises of students, staff and community members and performs three concerts during the academic year.

The 20 instruments that originate from Indonesia are made of bronze and are built and tuned to be played together as an orchestra.
They produce a unique rhythmical vibrating sound, allowing a variety of music to be played, ranging from louder, flamboyant and dramatic pieces to quieter, contemplative arrangements. Plymouth University students and staff developed their music skills during their visit to Bali.
