Man arrested for drugs offence after Plympton collision
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of possessing drugs after the car he was driving was involved in a collision in Plympton.
Officers were called to Plymouth Road, Plympton this morning (2 December) at 9.40 after a silver Volkswagen Golf had collided with a lamppost.
A 25-year-old man from Plymouth fled the scene of the collision and, following a search of the local area by officers, he was located by a police dog handler nearby.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply after a large quantity of what police believe to be controlled drugs were found with him.
The car, which is registered to Torquay, has been recovered.
Police are also investigating a number of other driving offences.
The man remains in custody at Charles Cross police station pending further enquiries.
