UK inflation rate remains at 2.7%
The UK's rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the year to September, remains at 2.7%. The rate is unchanged since August.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), changes in the consumer categories used to measure the rate were relatively small compared with most months. The largest upward contribution came from air fares, though this was offset by a downward contribution from petrol and diesel prices.
Inflation as measured by the retail price index (RPI) fell by 0.1% to 3.2% from 3.3% in August.
The ONS said the latest figures continued the trend of broadly steady inflation seen since spring 2012.
