Electrical fault in fridge suspected for Peverell house fire
Fire crews were called to a blaze in a property on Old Park Road, Peverell in Plymouth on Sunday evening (1 September).
Three appliances from Greenbank and Crownhill were mobilised. On arrival crews discovered a fire in the ground floor kitchen of the two storey house which appeared to have been started by a kitchen appliance.
Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one covering jet, a thermal imaging camera and positive pressure ventilation to extinguish the fire.
The fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in a fridge socket.
Severe fire and smoke damage was caused to the kitchen and moderate damage to the rest of the property.
