Plymouth Disney Store to close
The Disney Store have announced that they will be closing their Plymouth shop in New George Street in June following the expiration of their lease.
The company's decision comes as a blow to the city centre and the latest in a line of retail closures that have affected Plymouth and other cities around the country during the course of the economic downturn. The last couple of years has seen Disney close a number of its regional branches including shops in Bath, Cheltenham and Exeter.
The precise reasons for the decision remain unclear but a statement issued by the company said: "Following the expiration of our lease and negotiations with our landlord, Disney Store can confirm that we intend to close our Store in Plymouth on 9th June 2013. We will continue to trade as normal until that time."
It is also unclear at this time as to whether the shop unit has been let to another retailer.
