Saumi to leave Plymouth Albion at the end of the season
Plymouth Albion have announced that Director of Rugby, Nat Saumi, will leave the club at the end of his contract this season according to their website.
Saumi was appointed Head Coach after the sudden departure of Pete Drewett in December 2011 and worked alongside the board of Directors at Albion to secure Albion’s position in the Championship league for the 2012/23 season. Saumi was then given a one year contract as Director of Rugby/Head Coach in May 2012.
Despite a flying start to the 2012/13 season results recently have been disappointing. Saumi confirmed yesterday that he will be leaving at the end of his current contract.
Debbie Fisher Acting CEO said “the club are especially grateful to Nat for his loyal and dedicated support through what was an extremely challenging time for Albion. Many people have continued to work dedicatedly either voluntarily or for low salaries to ensure Albion’s survival. The financial support received by the club from loyal supporters, shareholders and Members is well documented and it was this support alongside the hardworking service of others that have seen the club come through to this season. The Board of Directors would like to express their gratitude to Nat for all of his years of service to Albion and wish him well for future challenges.""
