Artisans at Escot – Spring Showcase
A new artisan craft fair dedicating to showcasing some of the best of the South West’s creative talent is set to take place at Escot House on Saturday March 29.
It’s timed to perfection for anyone searching for unique and unusual Mother’s Day gifts.
Almost 30 traders will be selling a selection of beautiful items, from soaps, pottery, ceramics and glass to textiles, jewellery, decorative artwork, chilli-based products and more, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. Most the featured traders work out of East Devon.
The event is being organised by Gill Melly of SilverRipples Jewellery, who approached Escot with the idea. She said: “We’re so lucky to have so many talented makers in the area and I wanted to provide a new, very local opportunity for their work to be seen. Escot House is the perfect venue, with the combination of its history and the setting in such lovely parkland.
“This is a great way to support small, independent creative businesses – and find something extra special for yourself or to give as a gift.”
The event is free to attend. There will be refreshments available to buy, prepared by Escot’s in-house catering team - expect homemade cakes, biscuits, savoury snacks plus teas and coffees. The bar will also be open for a variety of alcoholic and soft drinks.
There’s plenty of free parking right next to the house. Visitors need to be aware that access is via stairs and unsuitable for wheelchair users.
For families who would like to make a day of it, wildlife park Wildwood is just next door, with pretty woodland paths, adventure play and resident animals including wolves and bears. Closing time is 5pm and last entry at 4pm.
The new Artisan Spring Showcase is open from 10am to 3pm at Escot House, Escot Estate, EX11 1LU.
