Ottery’s popular eaterie Coldharbour Field Kitchen is delighted to add another raft of awards to its growing collection.

The café has just scooped a gold hospitality award at the Food Drink Devon Awards which celebrate the very best Devon has to offer by recognising the county’s most respected, influential and passionate artisan food and drink producers and establishments.

Co-owner Andrea Broadhurst said: "We’re thrilled with our gold, and delighted to see some of our suppliers winning on the Producer list, including Sharpham Dairy and Owens Coffee. Well done to everyone."

What’s more, Coldharbour has been named a finalist in the prestigious Devon Tourism Awards - in not just one but two categories; Casual Dining and Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism. As just one of three shortlisted businesses in both categories, Coldharbour is guaranteed a gold, silver or bronze award.

“We are incredibly proud to be finalists. While we were successful in the Casual Dining award in 2022/23 awards, this is the first time we’ve entered the Sustainable award - and this means the world to us.

“Coldharbour has a huge commitment to the environment in all areas of the business; we’re off grid so work with the power of the sun as well as using spring water from our land. The structure of the field kitchen uses lots of upcycled and recycled materials. Importantly we’re zero waste. And we’re constantly looking at ways of improving our green credentials.”

The Field Kitchen welcomed even more tourists over the summer months, after the introduction of wood fired pizzas proved a real winner. “And we’re totally dog friendly inside and out which lots of visitors love – they can enjoy a walk up at East Hill then come here for a meal or a cuppa and cake.”

Andrea and business partner Beth Ashfield will find out the final result at the awards event on Thursday November 21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth. Andrea added: "Good luck to all the finalists, Devon should feel proud!"
