Councillors Unite to Support Trevi's Warrior Women Walk
Local councillors, Cllr Reilly and Cllr Haydon, have shown their support for the Trevi Warrior Women Walk, which takes place in October. This powerful event shines a light on women affected by trauma, addiction, and abuse.
In its third year, this inspiring event brings together survivors and supporters alike to walk together, raising funds and awareness for Trevi, a charity that has been transforming the lives of vulnerable women for over three decades.
Trevi is widely respected for its work in helping women escape cycles of abuse, providing vital support services such as rehabilitation, housing, and mental health care. The Warrior Women Walk is a significant part of Trevi’s events calendar, offering a symbolic and literal journey toward healing, strength, and empowerment.
Cllr Reilly and Cllr Haydon’s involvement is more than just a public endorsement. Both councillors have long championed causes that protect and empower women, and their support for the walk highlights their commitment to addressing social inequalities, tackling domestic violence, and promoting mental health and recovery services in Plymouth.
Councillor Sally Haydon, Cabinet Member for Community Safety at Plymouth City Council, said: “The walk is an excellent opportunity to connect with other amazing women in our city, and champion protecting women and girls.
‘It is so important to support Trevi, as all the funds raised through the walk will go directly towards their mission of ending violence against women and girls in Plymouth.

Councillor Zoe Reilly adds, ‘I am always happy to support Trevi in any way I can. I have been fundraising in various ways for many years now, jumping 15000 ft for one!!. The work with women done by organisations such as Trevi, is vital. The warrior walk is a great event to raise money and a brilliant way to socialise with people. Really looking forward to it.’
The support of figures like Cllr Reilly and Cllr Haydon is vital to spreading Trevi’s message and increasing its impact. Their backing helps to raise awareness across the community, encouraging more people to get involved, donate, or offer support to the women and families who rely on Trevi’s services. Through their advocacy, the councillors aim to not only support Trevi’s immediate efforts but also to call attention to the systemic challenges that women face in Plymouth and beyond.
Trevi hopes that this year’s Warrior Women Walk will be another huge success. They are hoping to attract 750 women to the event, which takes place on October 5. The 10k challenge is a gentle and beautiful walk around Burrator Reservoir, taking in the stunning views of Dartmoor.
Women can walk as individuals, in teams, business groups and organisations. All are encouraged to get involved.
