Two young lawyers from The Family Law Company’s Plymouth office are celebrating after receiving impressive legal awards.

Tamar Braddon and Kay Bowring were recognised in the Plymouth Junior Lawyer Awards, announced during the Plymouth JLD ‘Fire and Ice’ Ball held at the Crowne Plaza on June 28.

Tamar was named Legal Aid Champion. Tamar, who joined The Family Law Company in March 2021 as a paralegal in the Care team and began her training contract in 2024, supports lawyers with care proceedings involving social services' concerns about children's care or safety.

As the Plymouth team’s Wellbeing Champion, Tamar also actively promotes the wellbeing of her colleagues. She launched the company’s book club, runs events, regularly writes for the wellbeing newsletter and makes time to listen when colleagues need to talk.

Although Tamar was unable to attend the event, Kay was there in person to collect her award for Junior Lawyer of the Year. Kay specialises in domestic abuse, divorce and finances and is completing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) under the solicitor apprenticeship.

She has impressed her team with her leadership qualities, and her ability to draw on personal experiences as well as legal expertise to provide empathetic support for clients, making a significant difference to their lives.

Kerry England Director at The Family Law Company said: “We are incredibly proud of Tamar and Kay for their remarkable achievements. These awards recognise their hard work, devotion and the impact they have on the lives of our clients every day.

"Their accomplishment exemplifies our firm’s core values and dedication to excellence in family law.”
