South Devon Railway Launches £3m Share Campaign

South Devon Railway is aiming to raise £3m as part of a share issue campaign to help safeguard the long-term future of the much-loved attraction.

The share issue represents a unique opportunity for individuals, businesses, and railway enthusiasts to contribute to the ongoing conservation efforts and play a vital role in safeguarding this unique piece of heritage.

Planned projects include new visitor facilities and an upgraded museum at Buckfastleigh, station improvement, locomotive restorations, a new building for carriage repairs, construction of phase 2 of the running and maintenance shed and initiatives to reduce environmental impacts

.

By purchasing shares, investors will not only be stakeholders in the preservation project but also become part of a community dedicated to upholding the legacy of steam travel.

Shareholders will receive a number of benefits including; two return tickets each year, regular newsletters, discounts in South Devon Railway Gifts & Models as well as exclusive members’ train and reception.

"Our heritage railway holds immense historical and cultural significance, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure its preservation,” said Jon Morton Chair of South Devon Railway.

“The share issue will enable us to undertake crucial restoration works, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the magic of steam travel,” he added.

The multi-award-winning South Devon Railway is one of Devon’s and the West Country’s best loved tourist attractions and is the longest established steam railway in the south west, celebrating over 50 years in preservation.

The SDR is a seven-mile former Great Western Railway branch line, built in 1872, which runs along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes.

The minimum subscription is 250 x £1 of shares and the maximum is 100,000 x £1 of shares.
