Several decorative designs can be used to implement your own style to your home. One of these styles is the vintage, characterised by the rescue of original pieces of furniture that have not undergone modifications and modernisation.

There is no specific date that delimits the beginning of this style, but the use of what seems to be from other times. Normally, when reference is made to the vintage decoration, it marks the 20s until the 80s. This type of decor is perfect for those who like delicacy, sober tones and that antique touch. The vintage and charming style extend from the furniture, carpets, and wallpaper, to the lights, such as the colourful touches and styles of the classic Tiffany lamps like these ones. When it comes to the advantages of this decorative line, the main ones are the originality of the pieces and the exclusivity conferred in most cases.

Vintage and retro style

Besides the vintage style, there is also the retro style. As both terms refer to old influences, it is common that some individuals may mix up the terms. However, the difference is precisely in time. The vintage is a rescue of original furniture from a time, while the retro is the current reinterpretation of a past style. Retro pieces are usually more expensive than modern ones, but more accessible than vintage pieces because they are produced by the current industry.

Vintage style pieces can be used in the middle of a more classic decoration, where you want to rescue past styles, whereas the retro style can be inserted in a modern decoration as it has a playful touch.

The vintage style in different environments

The vintage style has already conquered fashion and decoration, by giving these spaces charming characteristics without having to spend much to create them. You can find vintage objects in antique shops, flea markets, antique furniture shops and even at your grandma's house. This is a good way to find vintage pieces to style to your home decor.

Living room: The living room is an environment usually linked to cosiness and relaxation, so the vintage style can be a good inspiration to decorate the space, as it brings with it sober tones and the nostalgic atmosphere of the old.

Bedrooms: Again, cosiness is an essential part of the composition of the room. As it's a very personal space, the design style can be added quite freely, leaving it up to you to adopt a more subtle style (with just a few key objects) or a complete one (with influence in the furniture, colours and decoration).

Kitchen: In this space, it is possible to invest in the design of the appliances and the dining table. However, it's a bit tricky to find old appliances that still work or that meet all the needs of a modern kitchen. In these cases, it might be easier to invest in retro pieces.

Bathrooms: In the bathroom, vintage decoration is charming and is even a solution for those who enjoy the style, but do not want to use it throughout the house. You can invest in old tiles, vintage colours, faucets and accessories in gold.
