The new RPCYC opened its doors in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and despite all the challenges this period brought with it they now boast over 230 members, with just short of 80 affiliated boats and are being referred to locally as ‘the cruising club of choice in Plymouth’.

Its new clubhouse can be found on the popular Barbican and with a full cruising and social calendar planned for this season they are looking forward to welcoming new members, together with their family and friends.

Word is also spreading that the club now has one of the best views in town with the return of club mooring buoys located  in front of the Hoe, for exclusive use by members.

Taking the club forward,  the existing Commodore Geoff Wheeler stepped down at the recent AGM and has been succeeded by Christopher Deane, a seafarer with over 20 years experience both motoring and sailing along the south coast. Supported by the enthusiastic officers and officials  they have an ambitious few years ahead as the club approaches its milestone 150th anniversary.
