CCTV appeal after convenience store robbery

Police have released CCTV footage following a robbery at a Plymouth convenience store.

The footage is from the Regent News Store, Regent Street, Plymouth.

It shows a male entering the store and producing a machete from a brown sheaf and threaten the member of staff.

A member of staff puts money and cigarettes into a plastic carrier bag and suspect leaves the store. The footage is from two different cameras.

At around 7.45pm on Thursday evening (4 May) a man entered the Premier Store on Regent Street in the Greenbank area of Plymouth and threatened staff. It is understood he was carrying a machete-type knife.  He demanded money, tobacco and cigarettes and then left the store. It is thought that he left with around £200-300 worth of cash and goods.

The man is described as being 5ft 10in to 6ft tall of medium build.  He was wearing a balaclava but appeared to have some kind of brown facial hair.  He had a local accent.

Police made an immediate search of the vicinity without success and are now making a number of enquiries in an attempt to identify and locate the suspect.
