Crucial diabetic eye screening work at Plymouth Science Park

Vital work to help check the eyesight of diabetic patients will shortly be taking place at  Plymouth Science Park.


The team, from EMIS Care, has moved to the city’s premier business complex where it can benefit from its excellent facilities – from the well positioned offices and free parking for clients through to the stunning views and the on-site café. The park is also located in close proximity to the west country’s largest hospital, Derriford.


EMIS Care is contracted by the NHS to ensure registered diabetics receive eye screening on an annual basis.
In their administrative role they will co-ordinate appointments for all important eye checks for patients attending the nine screening centres based across the city.


They will also be sending out reminder letters to clients and ensuring any patient who has missed an appointment is rebooked onto the system.


“It’s a vital service for diabetic patients,” explains Jonathan Hildred Director of Healthcare at EMIS Care. “Our new administrative office will be central to our whole operation, enabling our staff to work efficiently in pleasant surroundings.”


The eye screening service is a crucial part of care for people with diabetes, helping to detect any changes in vision that would need medical attention.


EMIS Care has more than 30 years’ experience in diabetic eye screening and has won a number of awards for its work. The team moved into the new office at PSP on 15 March 2017.
