Children’s author, Anna Perera, made a special visit to Ridgeway School on World Book Day.
She shared her experiences of being a writer as well as explaining the process of being published to budding writers in the school book club.
Shortlisted for the Branford Boase and Costa Children’s Book Award, ‘Guantanamo Boy’ author, Anna Perera, also delivered an inspiring workshop to year 9 students.
They were encouraged to close their eyes and imagine a dream they’d had, complicated or simple, unexplained or plain weird! They were challenged to use this dream as a stimulus for a creative piece written in the genre of their choice.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet a published author and hear firsthand about her experiences of writing a book,” said Principal Lisa Boorman. “It would be great if her visit has inspired an author of the future from our school".
