Asda donates £200 to Friends of Derriford Hospital Kidney Unit
A big thanks to Asda Plymouth for generously donating £200.00 to the Friends of Derriford Hospital Kidney Unit, as part of their Community Life programme, which aims to help make local communities better places to live and work for colleagues and customers.
Every two months, charities are able to nominate themselves to be part of the programme and after a panel of judges review all applications, three charities are chosen.
Every shopper at Asda is then given green tokens, which they can gift to any chosen charity.
The winning charity is then given £200.00 by Asda, and the other two charities receive £50.00.
Andy Felix, General Store Manager for Asda Plymouth, said: “Our aim is to support charities that are within a mile of our store. We get many applications from the wider community, but I think it is brilliant that we are able to support those close by.”
Linda Boorer, Transplant Nurse Consultant, said: “On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Asda very much, we are extremely grateful for the money raised. I would also like to say thank you to the shoppers for choosing our charity to gift their tokens to. We are looking at getting a day bed, as this will be pressure relieving and a really good comfort for our patients.”
