Plymouth Devils firing on all cylinders
PLYMOUTH closed to within six points of a play-off position following their seventh successive home victory in the Premier League when they beat Berwick 57-35 at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening.
The Skills Group Devils now need seven points from the 11 available in their three remaining fixtures to overtake Ipswich, who currently occupy the sixth – and final – play-off position.
Plymouth team manager Lee Trigger said: "It was another good resounding win for us and will give us confidence going into our final three league fixtures.
"All our riders contributed by getting stuck in and winning races against Berwick. We gelled as a team and are now looking to fulfil our ambition of getting into the play-offs."
Plymouth provided 11 of the 15 race winners with every team member having at least one first place.
In contrast Berwick relied heavily on skipper Kevin Doolan and Somerset’s Richie Worrall, guesting for the injured Claus Vissing. They each scored 13 points, contributing all but nine of the side’s 35 points.
